Sign up on our home page. We'll send you a link:

• Android: open the link on your phone, tap Become A Tester, then install LandHog from the Google Play Store. Use the same Google account as the email you gave us.
• iPhone: install Apple's free TestFlight app from the App Store, then open our link on your iPhone and tap Install.

Updates arrive automatically through Google Play or TestFlight.

Go outside, tap START HOGGING, and walk, jog or run a loop. Come back to your chequered flag and everything inside becomes your land. Bigger loops score more points, and hogging over a rival's land steals it. Inside the app, How To Play explains every rule.

• Check Location is switched on for your phone, and allowed for LandHog While Using The App, with Precise location on.
• Once a hog starts, it keeps tracking with your screen off. You'll see a "Hogging In Progress" notification on Android, or a blue location bubble on iPhone.
• Turn off battery saver or low power mode while you hog. They can pause GPS.
• GPS works best outdoors with a clear view of the sky. Give it a few seconds after you step outside.

• Too small: a loop needs to be at least 1,000 m², with at least 500 m² of land that isn't already yours. Go round something bigger.
• Too fast: hogs must be on foot. Anything faster than running is rejected.
• Not a loop: back-and-forth walks don't count. Make sure you finish back at your flag.
• Already yours: hogging inside your own land refreshes it (it won't return to the wild) but doesn't score again.

Either another player hogged over it and stole it, or it returned to the wild because you hadn't hogged it for three months. We send you a warning two weeks before land returns to the wild, and it fades on your map with a dashed edge. Hog a loop over it to keep it. Your My Hogged Land screen shows everything you've won and lost.

Before you switch, save your account in the app with your email, Google or Apple. Then sign in the same way on your new phone. If you never saved it, we can't move your account across, as there's nothing to sign in with.

We'll tell you when your land is stolen, when land is about to return to the wild, when a season or private league ends, and when a game you're in starts or is nearly over. Turn them on or off in your phone's settings under LandHog.
